A Matched Filter for Cosmic Ray Detection from Electromagnetic Wave Reflection
Abstract
A new technique for detecting high-energy cosmic rays based on the forward scattering of electromagnetic waves has recently been introduced. In this approach, reflected signals are captured by antennas and subsequently demodulated. This work employs optimal filtering to detect cosmic ray events and suppress the significant background noise present in the system. The proposed detection method achieves a detection efficiency of 98% while maintaining a false alarm probability as low as 1.0%.
