Estudos sobre a implementação online para estimativa de energia no TileCal em cenários de alta luminosidade.
Abstract
This work aims to study techniques for online energy estimation in the ATLAS hadronic calorimeter (TileCal) at the LHC collider. During future periods of LHC operation, signals from adjacent collisions will be observed within the same time window, leading to signal superposition. In this environment, the COF (Constrained Optimal Filter) energy reconstruction method outperforms the algorithm currently implemented in the system. However, the COF method requires matrix inversion, making its online implementation infeasible. To overcome this limitation, this work presents iterative methods to implement COF, resulting in simpler mathematical operations. Based on Gradient Descent, the proposed algorithms demonstrate the ability to estimate the amplitude of superimposed signals with efficiency comparable to COF.
